The museum house over 250,000 (more than 120,000 items on display) genuine artifacts, including the treasures of the most famous Egyptian pharaoh, Tutankhamen. The gold and jewelry on display was enclosed in his tomb for over 3,500 years before it was discovered in the 1920s during excavations.

The Great Pyramid of Giza[a] is the largest Egyptian pyramid and served as the tomb of pharaoh Khufu, who ruled under the Fourth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom. Built in the early 26th century BC, over a period of about 27 years,[3] the pyramid is the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and the only wonder that has remained largely intact. It is the most famous monument of the Giza pyramid complex, which is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Memphis and its Necropolis".[4] It is situated at the northern end of the line of the three pyramids at Giza.

The highlight of the Kom al Dikka archeological site, Alexandria's Roman amphitheater reaches out in 13 levels of white-marble seating. Dating from 180BC, this is an unusual temple because it is duplicated, mirroring itself on either side of a central axis. This is because it was dedicated to two gods: Sobek, god of fertility and creator of the world along with Hathor and Khonsu, and also Horus, and each needed their own set of rooms.
